We are getting another episode of HD ready at the moment. As you might have guessed from the title, we plan to look at energy consumption and energy saving. It might sound like a tree-hugging, hippie-loving topic, but it’s actually something with surprising statistics behind it. Watch this space.

Update: We apologize for the delay of this episode. To make up for it, we will shortly release a new episode about the “Robot-Stories” art/technology workshop in Zürich.

This version of the show is in the Ogg Theora format, a completely free video format. Of course, you can still get our regular episodes from the main page.

Computers are all around us, but most of them are too small or too well hidden to notice. These devices are called embedded systems or embedded computers. Special guest Armijn Hemel discusses the present, the past and the future of embedded computing.

We’ve put together a new episode, but we won’t tell you what it’s about yet :P All I will let you know is that we’ll have a special guest on the show. Tune in on Friday evening!

Also, we’re changing to a new type of compression (called H.264) that will give you smaller downloads with the same amount of detail. That way, it’s no longer necessary to make two versions of every episode (one for iPod and one for computer screens). The same, high-detail file can be used on both.

In High Density’s very first episode we tell you how to subscribe to video podcasts and we explain a few of the key concepts behind internet broadcasting.

The music used in the Intro of our show is from a song with the rather cheeky title of “Shit in My Head“. It’s a collaborative effort between the wonderfully talented Kurt Kuene and the acclaimed bit-tuner. This song is licensed under the Creative Commons By-NC-SA license, which makes it free to download, share and use in your own projects (like we did). Make sure to check out their other songs :)
